Choosing a Course

Why should I study at Berlitz Brighton?
There are lots of reasons why Berlitz Brighton is the ideal place to study, but here are just five.

First convenience.
Brighton is only 50 minutes from the capital and just 30 minutes away from London’s second airport Gatwick.

Second excitement
Brighton is the most exciting place on the south coast, surrounded by beautiful countryside and home to a vibrant urban community.

Third variety
We offer over 40 different English language courses designed to meet your particular needs.

Fourth facilities
We have a suite of computers available for free student use throughout the day and into the evenings.

Fifth experience
Berlitz has over 125 years of experience helping people reach their language learning goals. We are continuing that tradition of excellence in Brighton.

When can I start the course?
We have new courses starting every Monday. We have over 40 courses at different levels so not every course will start every Monday.

How long are the courses?
Our courses start at 1 week and go up to 50 weeks.  You choose how long you want to study for.

How do I know which level is right for me?
Before you arrive, we will ask you to do an on-line test so that we can put you into the correct group. Access the online test here.  If you are not able to do this before you arrive, we will test your level on the first day to ensure you are in the correct class for your needs.

Can I study towards Examination Certificates at your school?
Yes. We offer Cambridge, IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC courses.  We can help you to organise your exams too.

Lessons

What is a lesson at Berlitz Brighton like?
This depends on the course that you are doing. BerlitzEnglish is essentially communicative. We use real world dialogues and focus on listening and speaking. Grammar is studied as an aid to communication.

All instruction is in the target language and we aim to provide the practical language you will need outside the classroom. If you are on a business course then the teacher will focus more on the specialised language required, and in exam preparation classes you will learn the skills required to help you pass the exam.

How long is each lesson?
Our lessons are 40 minutes long with a 5-minute break. For timetabling we often have double lessons with a longer break.

What times are the lessons?
Morning classes run between 9.00am and 11.55am.
Afternoon classes run between 1.00pm and 3.55pm.
